105 miles sourtheast of San Francisco, Turlock is a city in Stanislaus County, California. Its estimated 2019 population of 73,631 made it the second-largest city in Stanislaus County after Modesto.

The Pactiv Evergreen Packaging Turlock Carton Converting Facility is located in Turlock, California, within an hour of the California Napa wine country and in close proximity to the city of San Francisco . Opened in 1957 and employing 130 team members, the facility prints and die cuts refrigerated gable top cartons for a variety of national and regional brands supplying retail groceries and schools throughout the western US and Canada.

Pactiv Evergreen is required by laws in many locations to include a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. The compensation range takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. At Pactiv Evergreen, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $106K -$177K.

This position is eligible for an annual incentive bonus, 401(k) plan with no waiting period and dollar for dollar match up to 6% and immediate vesting, comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance, flexible spending and health savings accounts, paid time off, paid parental leave, up to nine paid Holidays and two floating Holidays, wellness program, tuition reimbursement and family care benefits.

Responsibilities

Purpose of the job:

Manage Sealing Departments to ensure quality and improve OTIFINE

Essential Functions/Responsibilities:

  1. Ensure all employees are knowledgeable of and adhere to Evergreen Packaging safety policies

and procedures, as well as OSHA regulations.

  1. Organize, manage, direct the activities of employees assigned on shift to meet production goals

and Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s).

  1. Analyze existing production procedures and propose a more effective course of action if

necessary.

  1. Monitor various supplies to ensure quality is maintained at expected standards and reasonable

cost.

  1. Train and evaluate employees in procedures that will result in quality of output, machine

efficiency and employee safety meeting budgeted requirements. Develop and implement a

training program for new employees and employees below expected performance levels.

  1. Evaluate equipment to ensure that mechanical deficiencies are reported to maintenance for

prompt repair to prevent customer delays and quality problems.

  1. Evaluate raw materials such as board, corrugated adhesives, case markers, stretch wrap films, etc.

to ensure customer requirements for quality and on time delivery.

  1. Communicate effectively with employees, peers, superiors, and staff personnel to ensure proper

direction of efforts to ensure achievement of required results.

  1. Verify and approve work hours and pay rates utilizing the timekeeping systems.

  2. Responsible for effective employee relations. Provides employee coaching and development.

  3. Resolve employee issues through problem resolution.

  4. Ensure hourly employees have proper training and tools to meet department goals meet

production goals by balancing quality, productivity, performance, cost, safety, environmental,

and morale to achieve positive results in all areas of the department.

  1. Work with other departments, shifts and direct reports to achieve team attitude among crews and

peers.

  1. Check work areas for safety hazards, conduct weekly safety meetings with department employees, communicate the status of orders, schedule departmental clean-ups, communicate with Quality Assurance Manager concerning all issues affecting quality (side seams, skiving issues, mixed loads, etc.).

  2. Provide products and services that consistently meet the mutually agreed upon specifications of both our internal and external customers.

  3. Ensure that all requirements of SQF are being administered and adhered.

  4. Implement and maintain quality systems that ensure procedures and processes are in place to provide products that meet manufacturing specifications and customer requirements; provide tools for educating team members on quality standards and specifications for packaging; standardize quality test procedures and interpretation of results throughout the division; create a foundation and mechanism for process monitoring and continuous improvement.

  5. Involve team members in continuously improving the quality of our products and services, and the efficiency of operations and staff activities throughout the business.

  6. Leading quality improvement activities within their respective organizations.

  7. Responsible for assuring that the products produced within each manufacturing facility are safe and comply with all applicable federal, state, and international laws, regulations and guidelines.

  8. Required to follow the Turlock Facility Crisis Communication Plan anytime a crisis within an operation occurs involving a serious environmental, health and safety incident and/or a serious non-environmental health and safety incident.

  9. Prior to entering the processing area and/or handling any product it is required to wash hands with soap and water.

  10. Responsible for housekeeping in their work areas.

  11. Will produce safe, quality products that comply with all applicable federal, state, international laws, regulations and guidelines.

  12. Responsible for compliance with and adherence to all established good manufacturing practices, food safety plans and all applicable regulations and guidelines.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

Education, Skills and/or Experience Required at Entry:

  1. 4 year degree technical undergraduate degree preferred or related field and /or equivalent experience

  2. Thorough knowledge of sealing department operating process and procedures

  3. Thorough knowledge of safe quality food systems

  4. 5-7 years of operating experience

  5. Working knowledge of mechanical and electrical operations

  6. A demonstrated ability to lead people and get results through others

  7. Supervisory skills

  8. Ability to balance and achieve positive results in the areas of safety, quality, productivity

  9. Cost and employee relations

  10. Strong interpersonal and communication skills

  11. Ability to manage multiple priorities and work well under pressure

  12. Strong team player

  13. Knowledge of production processes, quality control, costs and other techniques for maximizing the

effective manufacture of product.

  1. Knowledge of business and management principles

  2. Computer literate

  3. Knowledge of food safety requirements

Working Conditions and Environment/Physical Demands:

  1. Must be able to sit, stand, kneel, squat 8 to 10 hours a day

  2. Must be able to wear all necessary safety equipment

  3. Must be willing to work on manufacturing production floor

  4. Must be able to lift 20 lbs. or more
